Eguano: Yes.... I couldn't wait to see the race. I was up all night trying to work out who would win.
Tanjiana: As you see eguano there are a lot of people waiting to see who is going to win the race as we speak now the line up is taking place. Silence all around the stadium. Some pretty good line up.
Eguano: Hmmm Yes
Tanjiana: So there are some strong runners here and some who have made dramatic progress from the last olympic games.
Eguano: They all look healthy, one or two have had an injury but made a good recovery so this race should be a close call.
Tanjiana: close call. ok... There getting ready, marks (the gun man), set.... go!

Reece: Yes Patterson going.... Oh no Patterson is down!
Tanjiana: It looks like Patterson has clipped some ones heals! He's down...
Eguano: No he's not going to recover no way. It would be a miracle if he did.
Reece: Oh My Gosh it's a miracle. It looks like he's getting up. What he's off!

Evaluation of Unit 4 - Creating A Record 02/11/09

1. My intro is dark and loud the character of batman is also a dark it stays dark and deep until the end of the credits it just stays with the deep low bass.

2. I have used a full strings legato and a deep drum n bass remix drum so i have a leite motif and low bass in the background.

3. I started with a full strings legato plying then a deep loud bass using drum n bass remix drum kit in the background. when batman comes up in the opening credits i continued with the full strings legato and the drum n bass and but added the clashing of symbols when the name batman appears on the screen.

4. The structure of notes i have used E G E G in repetition for the drum n bass remix part of my batman intro i have also used E G B D E in repetition also i have used the notes A in higher and lower keys.

5. The music suddenly stops all at the same time when the gotham city scene begins.

6. I feel as though i maybe should have used more track and different sounds and had more going to on to have more of an effect i think i may have left it to simple and not completed it as well as it could have been done but overall i am very happy with my work and i feel i have portrayed the film in a good way with my movie intro.

batman movie intro

Batman is a 1989 superhero film based on the DC comics character of the sam name, directed by Tim Burton. The film stars micheal Keaton in the title role, as well as Jack Nicholson, Kim Basinger, Robert Wuhl and Jack Palance. The film, in which Batman deals with the rise of a powerful villain known as "The Joker", is the first installment of Warner Bro's. Batman film series.

With Burton's hiring as director,Steve Englehart and Julie Hickson wrote film treatments before Sam Hamm wrote the first screenplay. Batman was not Greenlighted until the success of Burton's Beetlejuice (1988). The role of Batman was considered for numerous A-list actors, while Nicholson accepted the role of the Joker under strict conditions that dictated a high salary, a portion of the box office profits and his shooting schedule.

Filming took place at Pinewood Studios from October 1988 to January 1989. The budget escalated from $30 million to $48 million, while the 1988 Writers Guild of America strike forced Hamm to drop out. Uncredited rewrites were performed by Warren Skaaren,Charles Mckeown and Jonathan Gems. Batman was a critical and financial success, earning over $400 million in box office totals. The film received numerous nominations at the 62nd Academy Awards, 47th Golden Globe Awards and Saturn Awards. It has also inspired Batman the animated series, a series of films for Warner Bros. and redefined the modern perception of the Superhero film genre.

i think the way the CD covers are designed is very clever and the way the process is done i took my information from a website that had a sort of diary on it of how they got to making the actual cds and the ideas behind them like the slower more smoother sounding songs had more calm lighter coulors.

You will notice in the Smooth design, I have used the colours blue and green with an ocean type feel (check out the Jellyfish).

In the Rough design you will notice I have used angry red colours in a grungy chaotic mess that reflects my original musical response. The text was purposely made hard to read to reflect the chaotic nature of the music.

In the Digital one I have used an in-your-face, high energy, bright coloured design which reflects my original music response. You will notice the circles on the back cover, kind of popping as like in my original drawing.

Front Cover

After a bit more brainstorming I came to the concept of using one word to describe the type of music that the band played. I would then use that word as the main piece on the front cover. I chose the word Smooth for the calm music and the word Roughfor the heavy metal music and the word Digital for the electronic music.

I then went out and got myself a copy of Xara3D (USD$45) which I tell you is VERY easy to use for a 3D program. It took a total of 10 minutes to figure out without any tutorials, just playing with the buttons.

I then pumped out the 3D letters into Photoshop and then did about 80% of the designing in Photoshop and 20% in illustrator for the vectorised pieces. Below you can see the design process I used to create the first CD cover.

Design Process

You will notice the visual consistency between the three CD covers as we were required to have this between both designs, there were meant to be all from the same publisher. We also had to have all legal requirements on the CD jackets.

The album title was given to us and for the smooth song it was called Mad World, the rock one was called Attitude and the electronic one was called Equinoxe. The first Smooth cover took a day to complete and the attitude one took about half as long as I was more familiar with what to do and the digital one took about 3 hours.
